Comparison of Structured vs. Unstructured Data for Industrial Quality Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Industrial methods for quality analysis massively rely on structured data describing product features and product usage. The analysis of such data is normally done using complex reporting or sophisticated data mining methods. Besides this structured data, companies very often also posses large amounts of unstructured text like call center reports, internet fora or repair order documents. Despite the rising interest in text mining applications for industrial usage, the uncertainty about the real benefits is still high. In this work, we will present a comparison of the usage of structured versus unstructured data on two quality analysis use cases: Early warning and the detection of repeat repairs.

متن کاملEvaluating the Semantic and Representational Consistency of Interconnected Structured and Unstructured Data
In this paper we present research in progress that has the aim of developing a set of data quality metrics for two aspects of the dimension of consistency, the semantic and representational aspects. In the literature metrics for these two aspects are relatively unexplored, especially in comparison with the data integrity aspect. Our goal is to apply these data quality metrics to interconnected ...
متن کاملA Recent Survey on Unstructured Data to Structured Data in Distributed Data Mining
The organization of unstructured data is recognized as one of the major uncertain problems in the information industry and data mining paradigm. It will be in the form of computerized information that moreover, does not have a data model and there are not simply used by data mining. The task of managing unstructured data signifies possibly the major data management opportunity for our community...
متن کاملQuality Needs Structure: Industrial Experiences in Systematically Defining Software Security Requirements
Successful, quality software projects need to be able to rely on a sufficient level of security in order to manage the technical, legal and business risks that arise from distributed development. The definition of a ‘sufficient’ level of security however, is typically only captured in implicit requirements that are rarely gathered in a methodological way. Such an unstructured approach makes the...
متن کاملAssessing the Quality of Unstructured Data: An Initial Overview
In contrast to structured data, unstructured data such as texts, speech, videos and pictures do not come with a data model that enables a computer to use them directly. Nowadays, computers can interpret the knowledge encoded in unstructured data using methods from text analytics, image recognition and speech recognition. Therefore, unstructured data are used increasingly in decision-making proc...
